Spring Baby Shower

A friend from High School got in touch with me and asked if I could bake something for her sister-in-law's Baby Shower.

The theme was Spring and Pastels.

White Cupcakes with Chocolate Mousse Topping

Chocolate Fudge Cupcakes with Vanilla Swiss Meringue Buttercream

All were topped with a Yellow Flower made of Marshmallow Fondant.

The Cake Pop favors are Chocolate Cake mixed with Chocolate Frosting dipped in White Chocolate and decorated with a Pink Flower made of Marshmallow Fondant.

Tags and Ribbon were provided by the host....super cute, right?

I had a few extras...

Thank You Cake Balls.

As a Thank You for working on my new logo(s) I sent a care package to the office of AC Label in Utah filled with 4 dozen yummy cake balls!

I wanted to try new flavors, one I had not done before.

Peanut Butter Truffles dipped in Milk Chocolate with Chocolate Sprinkles:

Chocolate Fudge Cake mixed with Cream Cheese Frosting dipped in White Chocolate with Oreo Cookie Crumb topping:

These sweets arrived on Valentines Day as a special treat for all the employees.

Thanks Again, Nancy!!!

I also made some Red Velvet & Cream Cheese Cake Balls as a Thank You to my sister and brother-in-law who helped me out...so I shipped out a variety pack for them at the same time!

Thanks Again, Dave & Adina!!!

Christmas is a time for Giving.

My parents are two of the most thoughful and giving people I know.
They asked me to bake up a bunch of sweets - none for them, all for others.

They asked for three small cakes to give to their neighbors.
Each cake has French Vanilla and Red Velvet layers with a Chocolate Ganache Filling.

They are each covered in Vanilla Swiss Meringue Buttercream then decorated with homemade Marshmallow Fondant.

They also asked for 2 dozen cupcakes...something Christmas-ey for my father's old co-workers.

One dozen French Vanilla cupcakes with Vanilla Swiss Meringue Buttercream and White Chocolate snowflakes.

One dozen Devils Food cupcakes dipped in Chocolate Ganache with Vanilla Swiss Meringue wreaths and Sprinkles.

And lastly, they wanted some Cheesecake bites.
Man, I love Cheesecake - so I get excited anytime someone orders it, because I always make extra.

I made the bites a little bigger than usual...well, because...why the heck not?!

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Pink & Grey Baby Shower

Everyone goes to a Baby Shower hoping for a good time...well, when you order sweets from me that's what you'll get!

These pretty cupcakes were made for a Pink & Grey themed Baby Shower.
The soon-to-be Auntie who ordered them for the shower had very specific design requests from the soon-to-be Mommy.

Half the cupcakes were Vanilla Cheesecake and the other half were Chocolate...both were filled with a Fresh Strawberry Filling and topped with a very generous amount of Vanilla Swiss Meringue Buttercream.

There was a variety of toppers: Chocolate Butterflies, Crystal Sprinkles and Fondant Flowers.

It gets better...

There were also cake balls.

Red Velvet ones, mixed with a dollop of Cream Cheese frosting and then dipped in colored white chocolate and topped with Crystal Sprinkles and a simple Fondant Heart.

Mini cupcake holders and liners make the PERFECT packaging for cake balls.

Sometimes when I deliver these sweets....I want to stay for the party...this was one of those times.

At least I had a few extra cake balls for myself : )
You know...so I could get a good picture...ya, that's it.

Guitar Cake

This cake was made for a guitar teacher, from a student.
The teacher is recovering from hand surgery.

This is the teacher's guitar:

Step 1:

Template.

Step 2:

Bake Devil's Food Cake.

Step 3:

Carve Cake.

Step 4:

Fill Cake with Ganache.

Step 5:

Cover Cake with Vanilla Swiss Meringue Buttercream.

OOPS! Forgot to snap a photo!

Step 6:

Cover cake with Marshmallow Fondant and decorate!

I debated for a long time whether or not to put strings on the Guitar.
Last time I made a Guitar cake, I didn't out of fear that I would ruin the cake.
My boyfriend told me "This one needs strings. You can do it baby, go nice and slow."
So I did.

I had lots of cake scraps leftover and about 1/2 cup of Ganache that I didn't want to go to waste.

So I pulled out a bag of mint chips that were close to expiring and some other ziplocks of candy melts that were too small in quantity to really accomplish anything else.

I'll never get tired of cake balls.

Using the Ganache instead of frosting really made these extra delicious.

...and the mint shell...man, was it good!

Here's the random mix of cake balls I had.
They were all delicious.
